"Picture of Viagra pill"

A photograph cannot prove a Viagra tablet is genuine; pharmacy source and imprint verification are more reliable.

A picture of a Viagra pill cannot prove that a tablet is genuine. Brand Viagra and generic sildenafil may differ in color, shape, imprint, manufacturer, and country. The reliable checks are the dispensing label, sealed packaging, pharmacy source, imprint information, and pharmacist verification.

What an authentic Viagra pill may look like

Brand tablets are commonly associated with a blue, diamond-like shape, but appearance varies by strength and market. Generic sildenafil can be white, blue, round, oval, or another approved shape. Counterfeiters can copy color and logos, so visual similarity is weak evidence.

How to identify a sildenafil tablet safely

  • Check that it came from a licensed pharmacy.
  • Compare the imprint, strength, manufacturer, and expiration date with the label.
  • Inspect the seal and packaging for spelling, print, or lot inconsistencies.
  • Ask a pharmacist to identify any unfamiliar tablet.
  • Do not take a loose pill obtained from another person.

Warning signs of a counterfeit product

  • No prescription or clinical screening was required.
  • The price is implausibly low or the seller hides its location.
  • The tablet color, imprint, or size varies within one pack.
  • Packaging lacks a manufacturer, lot number, or patient leaflet.
  • The effect is unexpectedly strong, absent, or accompanied by unusual symptoms.

Counterfeit sexual-enhancement products may contain too much sildenafil, another PDE5 inhibitor, or undisclosed drugs. Combining unknown ingredients with nitrates or blood-pressure medicines can be dangerous.

What to do with an uncertain pill

Do not test it by taking a small amount. Keep the packaging, contact a pharmacist, and report suspected counterfeit medicine through the appropriate regulator or pharmacy. If symptoms occur after an unknown tablet, tell clinicians exactly what was taken and when.

Expired tablets also should not be judged by appearance; see the expired Viagra safety guide. Correct dosing is covered in how to take 100 mg sildenafil.

Seek urgent care for chest pain, fainting, severe allergy, sudden vision or hearing loss, or a four-hour erection. Return to the erectile dysfunction guide for verified treatment options.

Why a photograph cannot authenticate medicine

Counterfeiters can copy a tablet's blue color, diamond shape, score line, and imprint. Legitimate appearance can also vary by manufacturer and country, especially for generic sildenafil. A reverse-image search or comparison with a promotional photograph cannot confirm the ingredient, strength, or storage history.

Authentication depends on the supply chain: a valid prescription when required, a licensed pharmacy, intact labeled packaging, and a traceable manufacturer and lot. A pharmacist can compare the tablet with the dispensed product record and advise whether regulatory reporting is appropriate.

Information to preserve

Keep the box, blister, receipt, website address, seller messages, lot number, and photographs of both sides of the tablet. Do not mail or hand the product to an unknown party. Regulators or pharmacists may provide instructions for reporting and disposal.

If another person supplied the pill, do not take it even if they report a normal response. Their prescription and medical screening do not apply to you. Sildenafil can be dangerous with nitrates, recreational nitrites, riociguat, and some cardiovascular conditions, regardless of whether the tablet is genuine.
